To provide Owners, Members, and guests with exceptional customer-centric services, The Hong Kong Jockey Club (“the Club”) will install a brand-new iconic canopy in front of the Grandstand building at the Members Main Entrance (“MME”) of Sha Tin Racecourse. Along with a range of facilities, this addition aims to ensure seamless access to the racecourse regardless of weather conditions. The MME will be temporarily closed from 26 February 2024 to November 2025 to accommodate the renovation work.
Temporary traffic arrangements
During the renovation period, temporary traffic arrangements will be implemented to ensure smooth pick-up and drop-off for Owners, Members and guests.
Starting on 3 March 2024, pick-up and drop-off for private cars and taxis will be relocated to the Members Taxi Stand at Level 1 of P1 (Multi-Level Carpark, “MLCP”). The current taxi waiting area at Level 1 of the MLCP will be relocated to the far right traffic lane, while the far left and centre lanes will be designed for private car use.
The Members Taxi Stand will still be accessible via the vehicular ramp of the MLCP near the Sha Tin Racecourse Entrance. Vehicles arriving from the south (Hong Kong/ Kowloon/ NT West) can access the ramp directly after entering via the overpass and passing through the traffic lights (please click here to watch the tour video); vehicles arriving from the north (Tai Po/ NT North) are required to loop around the MLCP when going up the ramp (please click here to watch the tour video).
New access road to Sha Tin Clubhouse
In addition to the temporary closure of MME, the entrance to Sha Tin Clubhouse (“STCH”) will also be altered. The new access road will be moved closer to the Sha Tin Racecourse Entrance. Members will need to follow the road signage to take the left turn to STCH immediately after the pedestrian crossing that links STCH and the MLCP.
Members parking at STCH Indoor Carpark will need to turn right immediately after the new access road. Vehicles for Owners, Members and guests’ pick-up and drop-off at STCH Main Entrance will remain unchanged with a left turn from the new access road. The current route for vehicles leaving STCH remains unchanged.
The Club is committed to mitigating any inconvenience that may arise and would like to thank Owners, Members and guests for their support and understanding throughout the project.
