The Stewards have interviewed Mr D J Hall, the trainer of KA YING VICTORY, regarding his application to add a tongue tie to the gear to be worn by that horse in the stated race. KA YING VICTORY was successful in its previous race start over the course and distance when wearing a ring bit only.

Mr Hall explained that after KA YING VICTORY’s barrier trial on 5 December 2023, Jockey Z Purton reported that the horse had its tongue over the bit. As such, he has applied a tongue tie to the horse in its trackwork since 9 December 2023, and also in its gallop on 11 December 2023 and he has been pleased by the horse’s performance with the addition of this piece of equipment. He is of the opinion that the horse would benefit by wearing a tongue tie in its future race starts.

Having considered the merits of Mr Hall’s application, the Stewards have approved for KA YING VICTORY to wear a tongue tie in this race.
