Raced over turf and dirt with all wins over latter, but has two fifth-place finishes at G3 level. Excellent overall speed. Three of four wins over left-handed track, but can handle racing to right. Competitive here.

Atid

Far off board in last four starts but has raced at graded-stakes level. Weight has been fluctuating wildly. Could surprise if weight stabilizes. Training ample.

Chase the Dream

Forward-running filly with consistent good results. Began autumn campaign with fourth over Kyoto 1200m despite wide draw and some tension under way. Running under 2 lbs less this time. Has chance if things come together well.

Cyclotron

Last win in distant past, but spring results were decent. Poor late speed but can run well on pace. Short stretch of Kyoto a plus. Needs fast ground. Will have at least 2 lbs less than recent starts.

Dualist

Returning after nearly 3 months and fifth over left-handed Niigata 1200m. Has got good results racing to right but recent performance somewhat lacking. Field top weight of 130 lbs and time off raise bar.

Eis Lien

Seasoned sprinter with nearly half of 22 starts in top three. Has stamina and guts and was consistently in money over last five starts, including most recent, a win over Nakayama 1200m mid-September. Worth a wager despite move up in class.

Fern Hill

Generally and consistently in top three. Last out end-August broke poorly, but rallied despite difficult trip. Good over any going. Has potential to do well.

Fire Lance

Recent results not promising but last out over Nakayama 1200m brought fourth despite late break, heavy ground. Will carry 7 lbs less this time. Looking light on feet in morning work. First time at Kyoto, but close to home. Could surprise.

Kurojishi Joe

Has failed to win in over a year but has three finishes in top three in last seven starts. Given two turf starts over summer in Hokkaido with poor results, but a return to dirt a plus and will be carrying 3 lbs less. Lacking in late speed recently but could surprise with return to dirt.

Misuzu Grand O

Inconsistent with occasional finishes in money, including third in June. Returning after nearly 3 months off. Does better with sharpener, but looking good in work. Could surprise.

Omega Rainbow

Highly consistent, including many finishes in top three at G3 level. Given largely 1400m but has fared well over 1200m. Promising but will carry field’s second-heaviest weight of 129 lbs, under which he finished seventh last out.

Over Nexus

Raced primarily over 1400m, has not been far out of money. Good late speed, but often late away. Could score given right trip.

Pier Chic

Chronically late at break. Back after almost 4 months and two poor results this summer. Scored a fourth in spring over Kyoto 1200m. Saddled with 5 lbs less this time, but age, time off are strikes against.

Smart Pholus

Highly talented colt has only two starts out of top three. At Kyoto last out, raced over 1200m for first time, with good results. Excellent late speed. Versatile. Racing under usual weight.

T M Tokkyu

Leapt to G3 level on turf last out in June, but bar too high. Returning after 5 months. First time over Kyoto 1200m dirt. Condition on raceday key, but likely needs sharpener.

Vagabond

Third start at this level. Poor break and interference factors in two poor showings, but saved face last out with third over Kyoto 1200m in early-October. Primed and promising.
