The appeal lodged by Jockey C Y Ho against the severity of the penalty imposed by the Racing Stewards on 4 October 2023 to suspend him from riding in races from 18 October 2023 until 20 November 2023 on which day he may resume race riding (10 Hong Kong racedays), for a breach of Rule 100 (2) when riding CAPITAL DELIGHT in Race 5 at the Happy Valley race meeting on 4 October 2023, was heard by the Stewards of the Jockey Club at 9:30 a.m. today.

The Appeal Panel carefully considered all the evidence, including further evidence taken today.

The Panel decided to vary the race riding suspension which now runs from 18 October 2023 until 12 November 2023 on which day he may resume race riding (8 Hong Kong racedays). The Panel also ordered that Jockey Ho be fined the sum of $120,000 in lieu of a period of suspension from riding in races which would incorporate 2 racedays. The Panel further ordered that the appeal fee deposit be set off against the fine.
