1300m – Turf
Amedras |
Sometimes competes over notably further than this but last year he did win a 1400m handicap here, also winning a 1400m Vichy handicap on his penultimate start. A modest effort last time. |
Antharis |
Won at minor tracks in July and August and looks currently in good shape. He was a close third – as a 29-1 outsider – in this race when it was run on very soft ground last year. |
Apax |
Wonderfully consistent, in the first four in all nine career starts. Latest win was in a slow-ground handicap over this trip at Deauville in August, and almost winning again at Saint-Cloud on 11 September. |
Avrilomanoir |
In good shape for all of his last six starts including three straight wins, one of them over this distance. Facing a tougher task at the weights now, but he still belongs on the shortlist. |
Cirano |
Mostly struggling on recent efforts and drops down in trip for this. He did put up quite a good show when fifth of 16 here back in April, the winner that day landing a G1 later in 2023. |
Deep Hope |
Looks high enough in the handicap considering he has mostly been well beaten in recent starts. Effective at this trip illustrating that when winning four consecutive all-weather races last year. |
Droit de Parole |
One of his ten career wins came here – over 1600m – back in 2019. Versatile in terms of distance, his latest win coming over just 1000m, in a minor event at Vichy in July. |
Excalibur |
Very effective at this trip, justifying favouritism when landing a 1300m handicap on Chantilly’s all-weather surface in February. Also a winner at a minor track in September. |
Faster |
Three times a winner in 2022 but has failed to score in ten starts this year. Finished a fair fifth in a handicap here in September. |
Hollyhock |
His three career wins have all come over further than this, but he put up a really good show over 1400m here on his latest start, only narrowly failing to win a hotly-contested handicap. |
Jack O’Boy |
Although he did not make a major impact here last time, most of his best performances have come at this track including a defeat of 17 rivals when favourite for a 1400m handicap here in April. |
Kimi Orenda |
Quickened nicely to win a 1400m Listed event at Munich, and nearly as good when third at Baden-Baden. Earlier in 2023 she had won a handicap over this course and distance. Supplemented. |
Lanaken |
Only beaten a nose in a hot 1400m handicap here in June. Only start since resulted in a decisive 1400m handicap success on Deauville’s all-weather track. Chances. |
Mubaalegh |
Is suffering a long losing sequence. At least one of his best efforts did come here when a close second in a 1000m handicap in May. |
Nesr Shalghoda |
His two wins this season have come at smaller tracks though he was only just beaten in quite a well contested 1200m event at Chantilly. |
Ozan |
Two of his four career wins over this specialist trip – though both – narrow victories at Deauville and Chantilly – were on an all-weather surface. Has not made a big impact in five starts here. |
Pedrito |
Has failed to win in his last 12 starts but ran his best race for sometime when a very close third in a 1400m handicap here in September. |
Purest Time |
Two wins – including at this trip – from 12 starts and when not winning usually gets into the prizemoney. However, to win this he will need to be sharper than on his last two starts. |
Raysteve |
Chantilly’s all-weather track seems to bring out his best, including a handicap victory there – over this trip – earlier in 2023. He did twice run well on slow ground here back in 2021. |
Sassica |
A rare winner but did come close to landing a 1400m handicap here in June. Struggled on very soft ground at Deauville last time. |
Sassy Rascal |
Yet to win in France but won a 1200m dash at Baden-Baden in August. Only ninth but not beaten far in a Chantilly handicap in September. |
Tairann |
Only win so far came over a longer trip than this at Wolverhampton. Dropping down in trip and class now after being well beaten on his latest three starts since moving to France. |
Torpen |
Not the most consistent but has posted some very good runs at this track, including when only failing by a head to win this race last year. |
Tremblant |
Sole win so far has come the only time he has raced on an all-weather surface, over 1500m at Deauville in August. Tried over a variety of trips by his top stable. |
White Platin |
Sound performances on his last two starts, notably when just getting the money in a tense finish over 1400m here when only 3 lengths separated the first ten runners. Disappointed in this race last year. |
Woff |
Did manage to win a minor event over 1350m at Lyon Parilly in May. Started at long odds for a 1400m handicap here in September but wasn’t beaten far in sixth of 16. |
Wonder Boy |
A 1600m winner on his latest start. Versatile in terms of distance and had also won over 1200m at Lion D’Angers in July. Narrowly won a 1400m handicap here back in 2020. |
