National Day at Sha Tin Racecourse to feature special performances

The National Day Race Meeting takes place at Sha Tin Racecourse this Sunday (1 October). Apart from thrilling races, an array of special activities, including the performance of international famous tenor, choreographic rope skipping and mass drum performance, the booth of Chinese Arts & Crafts Avenue and VR tour of Conghua Racecourse, will be available. Tourists to Hong Kong will be offered free admission.
World renowned tenor delivers famous songs
The opening ceremony commences at 12pm in the Parade Ring. Wei Song, Chief Artistic Director of Shanghai Opera House cum World Celebrity Tenor in China, will perform his famous songs and the national anthem. Members of the Hong Kong Rope Skipping Association, China and Gekko, a local drum team, will also feature.
Mr Pan Yundong, Deputy Commissioner of Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the HKSAR will officiate at the opening ceremony of the National Day Race Meeting. The Honourable Chan Kwok-ki, GBS, IDSM, JP, the Chief Secretary for Administration of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Mr Zhang Guoyi, Deputy Director-General of Department of Publicity, Cultural and Sports Affairs, Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR will present the trophies to the winning connections of the HK$4.2 million G3 National Day Cup Handicap (1000m).
Series of attractive on-course activities for Racegoers
An array of on-course activities, including the amazing Chinese Arts & Crafts Avenue beneath Mezza One in the Public Betting Hall, with special themed zones, covering traditional crafts and a VR tour. Racegoers are able to explore the four Chinese arts and crafts areas of wheat stalk painting, paper-cutting, dough figurines and traditional buttons.
Situated in the Conghua District of Guangzhou in Guangdong Province, Conghua Racecourse is a world-class training centre for Hong Kong racehorses. Attendees are able to paraglide over the magnificent centre through virtual reality, visiting the world-class horse training facilities and stables from a first-person perspective to understand the daily life of the horses, just as if personally immersed in it.
Adding to these activities, youthful band Midnight Ensemble will deliver a wonderful live performance. Their music combines the charm of classical Chinese and Western music.
HK$8 million Triple Trio estimated dividend for the National Day raceday
A jackpot of over HK$4.6 million will be carried forward to the Triple Trio pool for the National Day raceday. It is estimated that a single HK$10 winning unit would pay up to HK$8 million.
Sunday’s National Day Race Meeting features a 10-race card, including the National Day Cup. Sha Tin Racecourse will be open for admission at 11am with the first race starting at 1pm. Tourists to Hong Kong will be offered free admission by showing a valid travel document upon entry to the Public Enclosure (excluding fee-charging venues) at Sha Tin Racecourse.
