1409m – Turf

1

Balon D’Or

A winner on his debut but failed to make a huge impact in a G3 and Listed race and now drops into handicap company, also rising in trip.

2

Bits And Bobs

Ran a dismal race when favourite for a Carlisle novices’ event – perhaps inconvenienced by the rain-softened ground. His two previous starts including a maiden victory had been encouraging.

3

Mission To Moon

Has shown promise on all three runs, just finding one rival too good in 1400m encounters on his last two starts. Kicks off his handicap career now.

4

Doddie’s Impact

A cheap purchase who proved to be a bargain when outgunning 15 rivals on heavy ground at Doncaster in April. Reappeared 103 days later when weakening at Newbury. Wants slow ground.

5

Sarakana

Despite unseating her rider before the start and then missing the break, she managed to easily record a 40-1 shock victory at Haydock on her debut. Last of 17 in an Ascot G3 subsequently.

6

Gamraan

Jason Watson partners this colt for the first time. An especially promising effort in June when a close third at Doncaster. Handicap debut and from a stable that have won this before.

7

Lincoln Legacy

Ran a good third considering that she was penalized for a Kempton win, at Windsor in June. Her pedigree suggests that she should be fine on this rise to 1400m.

8

Count Palatine

Didn’t figure in a Listed event at Royal Ascot on his second start, doing better in a 1200m novices’ event at Newbury last month. This trip should be OK but he’ll need to have progressed.

9

Macanudo

Has finished second on his last three starts – all in novices’ events – with the figures suggesting gradual improvement. Blinkers fitted here.

10

Persian Phoenix

Has turf winners in her pedigree but in four starts so far has performed better on an all-weather surface.

11

Phone Tag

Although beaten 6.75L third on his latest start, he had a difficult passage and was making some late headway. The first two that day have not enhanced the form since though the fourth has won.

12

Gray’s Inn

Already a proven winner over this trip and in handicap company, justifying favouritism at Chester. Despite then looking to face a difficult task in a Listed event at Sandown, she ran a very solid fourth.

13

Conde

Has shown gradual improvement and led for much of the way when third at Chester last month. Up to 1400m – which should suit – and into handicap grade now.

14

Marroof

Some encouragement when placed on his first two starts but then faded tamely after racing prominently at Yarmouth. Gelded since then.
