1000m – Turf
1 |
Big Gossey |
Well suited to big-field handicaps and he almost won this last year, caught close home on a track that plays to his strengths. Runner-up in a 1200m G2 here last time. |
2 |
Master Matt |
Poor efforts on his first two starts since joining this stable but much better on the latest two – latterly when showing smart speed from the start to win over 1200m at Fairyhouse. Drop in trip no worry. |
3 |
Hispanic |
The runaway winner of a slow-ground maiden over this course and distance last October. Maybe not happy on quick ground for two relatively modest efforts this year. |
4 |
Laugh A Minute |
Being hard ridden from an early stage when not getting competitive in this hot handicap last year. A close second here on his latest start, a good effort considering the ground wasn’t as slow as he likes. |
5 |
Michaela’s Boy |
Only turf win came on his debut. He’s fast from the gates as he showed when leading on his side of the track at Royal Ascot last time, having finished a good third at York previously. |
6 |
Tawaazon |
Gained his third success on a turf surface when narrowly winning a 1200m sprint here in May, his fifth handicap win of the year. Ran poorly on his latest start and this looks tough. |
7 |
Harmony Rose |
Her low winning turf strike-rate is a concern, but her last two outings – 1000m sprints – may well be career-best efforts, latterly when a close fourth in a Listed event at Cork. Slow ground wanted. |
8 |
Came From The Dark |
An eyecatcher in the Epsom Dash last time, finishing well after a slow start. Should have more time to use his late kick here and, 19lb below his peak rating, looks potentially well handicapped. |
9 |
Primo Uomo |
Did win a handicap over this course and distance way back in 2016. But a long time since his last turf victory and this 11yo will surely be outspeeded by younger legs here. |
10 |
Jon Riggens |
Was under pressure some way out before making late headway in this sprint last year. Plenty of promise from recent starts including a close fourth here in May. |
11 |
Lokada |
Both her career wins have come at the all-weather track of Dundalk. Performed above expectations in a Listed sprint at Cork last month, but now looks on a stiff handicap mark. |
12 |
Loveday |
All her 13 starts have been at around this pure sprinting trip and that includes several near misses in Listed company here earlier in her career. Reasonably handicapped now. |
13 |
Mehman |
This speedy type won two 1000m handicaps at Dundalk earlier in the year, but couldn’t enhance that record off a tougher handicap mark subsequently. Yet to win on a turf surface. |
14 |
Screen Siren |
Seems best at around this time of the year, all three wins having come in June and over this pure sprinting trip – most recently last month at Navan. Not so fast on her latest start however. |
15 |
Silmaniya |
From a stable that won this two years ago. A nicely-bred filly, she showed a good attitude to win a strong handicap sprint at Navan last year. Not beaten far on her 2023 reappearance here last month. |
16 |
Run Ran Run |
Likely to be well fancied for this sprint, with his two wins this season both coming here, latterly when narrowly outspeeding his eight rivals in a 1000m good-ground dash. Only raised 2lb for that. |
17 |
Sheikh Maz Mahood |
Quite lightly raced but this UK-trained gelding looks on the upgrade. Has had a 48-day break since comprehensively outspeeding eight rivals at Musselburgh. May still be nicely handicapped. |
18 |
Harry’s Hill |
Too quick for 18 rivals in a 1000m dash at Naas in May but faded out off a more demanding handicap mark on quicker ground at Tipperary. Best chance of a revival if the ground is soft. |
19 |
Mymomentintime |
Looked well suited to this course and distance and slow ground when easily outspeeding 17 rivals, recording a surprise 33-1 victory here last October. Two positive runs this season. |
