2400m – Turf
1 |
Dame Rapide |
Often competes over hurdles this year but was back to her best Flat form when gaining a 40-1 victory in a competitive 2800m handicap here in May. Will want a fast pace to bring her stamina to the fore. |
2 |
Safecracker |
Only one win from 16 turf starts but plenty of good placed efforts including last time when a strong-finishing second over this trip at Cork. Raised 3lb for that pleasing effort. |
3 |
Smooth Tom |
Moves up to this 2400m, and chances here if it results in further progress. Two career best efforts on his last two starts – including a Leopardstown win – with a visor looking helpful each time. |
4 |
Dha Leath |
His five career wins suggest that he has mostly shone on a slow surface, latterly with a heavy ground 2000m success at Naas. Needs to prove himself at 2400m after a fair start to 2023 over 1600m here. |
5 |
Maze Runner |
Will command respect from this stable despite a lengthy absence and the fact that he has mostly competed over further than this as well as over hurdles, but he is a past handicap winner at this trip. |
6 |
My Mate Mozzie |
Came close to winning a 20-runner handicap at Naas last November, but this notably shorter trip looks a problem. Not beaten far over 2800m here last month. |
7 |
Old Port |
Won a Newmarket handicap over this trip last July. Has joined an astute Irish stable and is likely to improve plenty on his modest 2023 return last month. |
8 |
Golden Twilight |
Has looked more effective on all-weather surfaces than turf, though his third here in May and his fifth at Cork last month were both quite encouraging. |
9 |
Zoffman |
Seasonal return for Zoffman but he is generally consistent and was strong at the end when winning a slow-ground handicap over this trip at Leopardstown last October. |
10 |
Chally Chute |
Gained three consecutive handicap victories last season, including over this course and distance. A rising handicap mark did not stop him delivering an encouraging start to 2023 at Tipperary. |
11 |
Hell Bent |
Weakened quickly here last time perhaps finding the 2800m trip too far. Despite racing too freely after a 345-day absence he had done better when third at Leopardstown previously. |
12 |
Laelaps |
On a 14-race losing sequence but showed encouragement on his latest run when – despite a slow start – he was strong-finishing third over 2000m here. The extra 400m here should be a help. |
13 |
Timourid |
Briefly outpaced but rallied well to land a 2000m handicap on good ground here in May. A tricky customer whose challenge needs to be perfectly timed as it was then. Yet to win at this trip. |
14 |
Teed Up |
First start after a 239-day break and he has tended to need his first start after an absence before. Ran an excellent second in a prestigious handicap over this trip at Doncaster last November. |
15 |
Brazil |
Mostly competes over obstacles, though his only Flat win came in a 1600m heavy- ground maiden here in 2020. Hard to fancy. |
16 |
Mr Escobar |
A 2400m maiden winner at Dundalk in January. A well-backed favourite on debut for this top stable at Lingfield but faded badly. Needs to restore his reputation back down in trip and on his turf debut. |
17 |
Boher Road |
Led for much of the trip in a Cork handicap last month, before weakening late on. Probably not quite good enough for this. |
18 |
Wild Dollar |
Only win came in a maiden here more than two years ago. Generally disappointing and an easing handicap mark is unlikely to help enough. |
