The Hong Kong Jockey Club (the Club) is staging the Hong Kong Reunification Raceday (photo 1, 2) at Sha Tin Racecourse this Saturday (1 July, 2023) to mark the 26th anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).

Hong Kong Reunification Raceday at Sha Tin to mark HKSAR’s 26th anniversary Free admission on 1 July
In line with various celebratory activities in the city, including free admission for many Government recreational and sports facilities, as well as special offers at some restaurants on 1 July, the Club will offer free admission to the Public Enclosure for racing fans at Sha Tin and Happy Valley. There will also be special discounts for selected food and beverage items with a special price set at 71% of their original purchase price at trackside catering outlets.
Staged as a twilight meeting, the 10-race programme has two feature contests, the Hong Kong Reunification Cup and the Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup, and features an array of on-course activities headlined by popular singer Gigi Yim (photo 3) in the Parade Ring.
Canto-pop singer Gigi Yim headlines spectacular off-track entertainment
The Opening Variety Show, scheduled for 3.10pm, will kick start the race meeting in style with a live performance by popular singer Gigi Yim. Three winners of the popular TV show “Midlife, Sing and Shine”, namely Albert Chau (photo 4), Li Jia (photo 5) and Ramon Law (photo 6) will each feature near Mezza One, Grandstands during race intervals.
The HK$2.9 million Class 2 Hong Kong Reunification Cup Handicap (2000m) is carded as Race 4 on the turf at 5.35pm. The Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup Handicap is carded as Race 3 on the turf at 5.00pm.
