1000m – Turf

1

Prince Of Pillo

Competed at a higher level last season and favourite when third in a Newmarket G3 on his final 2022 start. But disappointing on his recent return.

2

Walbank

Came close to winning a G2 sprint at this meeting last year, showing admirable speed after stumbling at the start. Not helped by swerving badly left early on at York on his 2023 return.

3

Rocket Rodney

Showed lots of speed last year including when very close to winning a 1000m Listed event at this meeting. Should be sharper for his 2023 return at York last month.

4

Michaela’s Boy

Has shown encouraging sprint form on his last two starts, especially when third after leading for much of the trip in a strong Listed sprint on fast ground at York.

5

Hispanic

Showed improved speed in first-time blinkers to win a maiden at The Curragh last October but hasn’t really shone in two Listed events since. Slow ground preferred.

6

Looking For Lynda

Twice a winner during a busy two-year-old season, but his sole start this season doesn’t suggest that he has improved.

7

Danger Alert

Gained his third career win and his first on turf when leading close home to land a competitive sprint on soft ground at Chester. That was a career best run.

8

Kerdos

The combination of the drop to this trip and soft ground seemed to help at Chester last time when, though missing the break, he made good late headway to finish third.

9

Rogue Spirit

Three wins – all at this trip – during a busy and successful two-year-old season. Could never get competitive on his 2023 return.

10

Pillow Talk

Showed a lot of dash to win a Listed sprint at York last year. Very encouraging when second there in May but could never seriously threaten at Chantilly last time.

11

Sweet Harmony

Tried in Group and Listed company this season but hasn’t proved good enough. Dropping to this pure sprinting trip and in cheekpieces for the first time.

12

Radio Goo Goo

Has won her last four starts, leading from the start in her last two. Down to 1000m but some stamina is required for this sprint track.

13

Jer Batt

Much quicker this season than last, winning two sprints and only just failing at Chester last time. Has a much higher handicap mark now but there could still be more improvement to come.

14

Clearpoint

Won his first two career starts but has not obviously improved in three runs since though doing quite well from a difficult draw at Thirsk on his 2023 return. Being tried in a visor.

15

Brave Nation

A good fourth in a Royal Ascot G2 over this trip on just his second career start. Later 2022 starts were not so good and gelded prior to this seasonal return.

16

Frankness

Dropping to this pure sprinting trip for the first time but did not look short of speed when landing a 1200m fast-ground Goodwood handicap this month.

17

Thunder Moor

Not beaten that far in a G2 at this meeting last year. Making his seasonal return for a different stable and handicapping for the first time.

18

Can To Can

Her two career wins have come at this trip, but not seeming to be at her best recently though leading for some of the way at Sandown. Cheekpieces fitted.

19

Rocking Ends

Three career wins so far but perhaps his best sprinting effort came this month when leading almost throughout, just failing to record a long-odds win at Windsor.

20

Tatterstall

Much improved since being gelded, winning two of his three starts and showing terrific speed on Epsom’s downhill track last time. Ascot’s 1000m represents a different challenge.

21

Revenite

Has successful Ascot experience, having won a novices’ event over 1200m here on his second career start. Beaten a long way on his only 2023 start.

22

The Big Board

Gained a surprise victory – on her first start for 203 days – in a 1200m handicap at Leicester last month, leading nearly throughout and continually repelling rivals.

23

Remarkable Force

Won his first two starts last season but struggled to progress subsequently. Needs to improve on his recent 2023 return.

24

Harry Brown

A remarkably consistent sprinter – yet to finish out of the first three in ten starts, and a close third under top weight at Goodwood last time.

25

Rhythm N Hooves

Two all-weather wins earlier this year, and though never looking like winning a demanding York handicap on his turf debut it was not a bad effort.

26

Executive Decision

Some encouraging performances when Irish-trained last season including a second in a decent Naas handicap. But this looks tough on her first run since.

27

Tawalla

Has proved very progressive and has won his last two starts – both at 1200m – with different tactics used each time.  The drop in trip unlikely to be an issue.

28

Conquistador

Unbeaten in two starts since moving to this stable, latterly with a strong finish at Lingfield. Looking for his first turf win but could well be progressive.

Reserves

29

Ferrous

A strongly-run race over this trip – which he will surely get here – looks ideal circumstances as he showed when responding well to pressure to win at Goodwood last month.

30

Squealer

Won consecutive sprints last season, but three runs this season leave room for improvement. At least he is dropping in the handicap.

31

Azure Angel

Speedily bred so she should handle the drop to this trip. Ran a very respectable fourth on her 2023 return at Windsor especially as the soft ground was probably against her.
