G2 – 2844m – Turf
| Batemans Bay | Plenty of promise from three starts last season – latterly when fourth in a Newmarket G3 – and looking as though he needed to step up to this longer trip this season. |
| Chesspiece | Took time to hit top gear but was ultimately the comfortable winner of a York handicap last month despite shouldering top weight. Well worth trying this rise in trip and class. |
| Circle Of Fire | Physically big and impressive, and no surprise to see him upped to this trip having lacked the required speed in a 2400m Listed event at Lingfield. |
| Etna Rosso | Progressed from a maiden win to run a close second – keeping on really well near the end – in a 2600m Listed event at Navan. Will stay this trip, according to that evidence. |
| Gregory | Likely favourite, given the way in which he accelerated and then cleared away from some talented opponents in a Listed event at Goodwood. The rise in distance looks positive. |
| Hadrianus | Has led in his last two starts but has then lacked a finishing kick. Up in distance and his brother was a winner over even further than this. |
| Ndaawi | Twice a winner at two but didn’t make a big impact on his 2023 return after racing too enthusiastically. Plenty of improvement needed but from a highly-respected stable. |
| Nurburgring | A big horse who won a maiden at Navan before finishing a close fifth in a stronger event there. Softening ground is probably required. |
| Peking Opera | Winner of two of his three starts, and looked to have stamina and courage as well as class when coming from the back to narrowly win a 2600m Listed event at Navan. |
| Saint George | Showing a good attitude when asked to quicken, making some progressive young rivals look average when winning a handicap over a bit further than this at Doncaster. |
| Steven Seagull | Well beaten in all recent starts and surely will be completely outclassed. |
| St Vincents Garden | Finished last but not beaten far in a Navan Listed event before gaining his first win with a hard-fought victory in a Fairyhouse maiden, leading for most of the trip. |
| Think First | Has not threatened to win any of his three starts this season, and not looking as though he stayed a similar trip to this last time out. |
| Sumo Sam | Has been ridden aggressively in all three starts this season but has found rivals too strong in the closing battle. Looks vulnerable to more progressive types. |
