Jack Wong will take up a new role as Senior Riding Instructor of the Racing Talent Training Centre (RTTC) after retiring as a jockey at the end of this season.
Mr Andrew Harding, Executive Director, Racing at The Hong Kong Jockey Club, is excited to see Wong assume his new role.
“We are excited about Jack embarking on this next stage of his career. It was always apparent from watching him in the Inquiry Room that he had a good analytical brain and was balanced and articulate. Add to that his maturity, strong character and determination, he is the perfect person to act as Senior Riding Instructor of the RTTC. It is very important to the Club that we provide good career paths for all the young talents who go through our jockey training program, and in Jack’s case this has been assisted by the Club’s collaboration with the Education University of Hong Kong (EDUHK) where Jack is studying a Bachelor of Health Education, which is linked with the Club’s Certificate for Rider Training Qualification,” Mr Harding said.
The 29-year-old has ridden 88 winners across his career in Hong Kong and remains eager to share his experience with the next wave of talent.
“During my riding career, on the one hand I tried my best to deliver good performances as a jockey, but, in the meantime, I have been thinking through how I could advance and improve myself. I am really interested in assisting the AJS (Apprentice Jockeys’ School) in sharing what I have learnt and experienced throughout my career. I am excited to be given the chance to contribute to the RTTC.”
