1000m – Turf

Democracy Dilemma |
As is often the case with this stable their horses are kept busy and this guy has raced 15 times, winning three including a soft-ground handicap on his penultimate start. Versatile. |
2 |
Can To Can |
An outsider for a sprint at Newcastle on her latest start, but, fast from the gates, she led throughout with her nearest rival 5L behind her at the end. Proven on grass also, and she’s in with a chance. |
3 |
Russet Gold |
It was a shade disappointing that he didn’t win his final two-year-old start considering he was a hot favourite following a runaway novices’ victory. Seems best on a quick surface. Gelded since last year. |
4 |
Grace Angel |
Well backed to win a Redcar handicap and, racing alone up the far rail, she led throughout for an easy victory. Front-running tactics suit her best, though that might be harder to achieve here. |
5 |
Miss Brazen |
Came with a powerful wide challenge to easily win a soft-ground Beverley handicap two starts back. Couldn’t handle a 10lb rise in the weights at York, but was still a threat until close home. |
6 |
Tatterstall |
Gained his first career success at Wolverhampton in May, leading throughout. Prominent for a long way in hotter company at York subsequently, just not quick enough late on. |
7 |
Jm Jungle |
Continues to give the impression that a victory is not far away, especially after his close second of 18 in a fast-ground sprint at York last month. |
8 |
Betweenthesticks |
Has already raced 18 times, winning three times. Looked like winning a Salisbury handicap last month- only headed close home. The ground may have been quicker than ideal that day. |
9 |
Swift Asset |
Won a maiden at two and was then raised in class including a fair run in a G2. However, he hasn’t made a big impact in either start this year. |
10 |
Minnesota Lad |
A hot favourite when beating some modest rivals in a maiden last year. Gelded over the winter and well beaten on his only 2023 start. |
11 |
Zuffolo |
Ran poorly on soft ground two starts back but much better at Redcar last time when comfortably outspeeding his rivals. Good or fast ground wanted. |
12 |
Dickieburd |
Led throughout to score a shock 40-1 victory at Chester last July. But he hasn’t achieved anything comparable in three starts since. |
13 |
Estate |
Raced three times last month, twice placed in maiden company before winning a Salisbury handicap with maybe the application of a tongue-tie helping then. Didn’t make a big impact in an Epsom run in 2022. |

Tallulah Myla |
All runs so far including an easy front-running 1200m success in April have come on an all-weather surface. But her pedigree points towards turf so she could be interesting here. |
