Jockey S de Sousa has lodged a notice of appeal against the penalty imposed by the Stipendiary Stewards on 12 May 2023 to disqualify him for ten months from 12 May 2023 to 11 March 2024 (both dates inclusive), for a breach of Rule 59 (3) in that he facilitated Jockey V Borges to have an interest in a bet on YOUNG BRILLIANT when it raced in Race 6 at the Happy Valley race meeting conducted on 26 April 2023.
