The Department of Veterinary Regulation, Welfare & Biosecurity Policy have advised that STAR OF YIU CHEUNG developed an elevated temperature with an associated blood abnormality on Friday, 5 May 2023, following its arrival into Hong Kong.  STAR OF YIU CHEUNG has subsequently been receiving appropriate veterinary management by The Club’s Veterinary Department.  As a result, STAR OF YIU CHEUNG had not undertaken trackwork outside of the quarantine facility.

STAR OF YIU CHEUNG has been monitored closely by the Club’s Veterinary Departments and has shown significant clinical improvement.  The horse completed trackwork this morning at Sha Tin Racecourse and has subsequently undergone a further pre-declaration Official Veterinary Examination which confirmed STAR OF YIU CHEUNG is suitable to race this Saturday.  However, the horse will continue to be closely monitored and will undertake a further official pre-race examination on Friday, 12 May 2023, as per the normal pre-race protocol.
