G1 – 1200m – Turf

1

Al Suhail

Has developed a better attitude and, though this 1200m is the shortest he will have competed over, he has taken his form to a new level with decisive Meydan victories on his last two starts.

2

Cazadero

A smart US-trained sprinter who was very strong over the last 400m when landing a 1200m G2 on a firm surface at Woodbine last October. Not so effective in a G1 subsequently.

3

Danyah

Won over this trip early in his career but now more familiar over further, including when too strong for ten rivals in a 1400m Listed event here in February. Looks vulnerable.

4

Duke Wai

A Class 1 handicap winner over this trip at Sha Tin this month, leading in the last 100m. Whilst the straight 1200m here could suit him well, a win would come as a surprise.

5

Flaming Rib

Career highlight was his second of 20 in a 1200m G1 at Royal Ascot last year, but it was nearly matched by his victory in a valuable sprint at Doha last month.

6

Logo Hunter

A strong finish in a 1000m G2 sprint here last month almost resulted in a surprise victory, an encouraging first run for this stable.

7

Miqyaas

With sharp gate speed he has shown a lot of improvement and delivered a shock victory in a 1000m G2 here in February. That proved no fluke when second in a strong G3 sprint last time.

8

Pogo

Best performances so far back home in the UK, rather than overseas efforts, and also 1200m looks short of ideal. Last October he won a 1400m G2 at Newmarket from the front.

9

Raaed

A strong finisher, he wasn’t beaten far in a 1351m G3 at King Abdulaziz last month. Frankie Dettori rides him for the first time.

10

San Donato

Three times a winner over this speed trip back in 2018 but racing over further ever since. A strong finishing second – though no chance with winner Al Suhail – here this month.

11

Sight Success

One sparkling performance after another in top Sha Tin sprinting company, and he led for much of the trip when just 1.5l third to last weekend’s G1 winner Lucky Sweynesse in February.

12

The Astrologist

His most significant victory came when narrowly landing a surprise win in a 1400m G3 at Ascot in Western Australia last December. Not beaten far in a Flemington G1 this month.

13

Thunder Of Niagara

Won here in January and probably posted a career best when third to Al Dasim in the trial for this at Meydan this month.  But this still looks difficult.

14

Happy Romance

This speedster’s six career wins include two G3’s in the UK over this trip. More significantly she finished second in this last year, and arrives here off an encouraging fourth at King Abdulaziz.

15

Ladies Church

A G2 winner over 1000m at The Curragh last year and her Meydan debut last month was very encouraging when –  despite a 152-day absence  – her late surge only just failed in a G2.

16

Al Dasim

Increasingly impressive when winning all three starts at Meydan – and over 1200m – in 2023. Briefly looked in trouble in a G3 here last time, before proving much too speedy for 14 rivals.
