2023 BMW Hong Kong Derby – Selections Announcement Photo Release

The 14 selected runners for the 2023 BMW Hong Kong Derby were revealed during the selections announcement at Sha Tin Racecourse this morning, Thursday, 9 March. This year’s edition of the HK$24 million Classic holds plenty of depth and features Hong Kong Classic Cup winner Super Sunny Sing, Hong Kong Classic Mile winner Voyage Bubble and head-turning talent Beauty Eternal among a star-studded line-up engaged.

The Hong Kong Derby dates back to 1873 and is the race that every Hong Kong horseman dreams of winning. The 2000m contest, which will be run at Sha Tin Racecourse on Sunday, 19 March, is the third and final leg of the HK$48 million Four-Year-Old Classic Series.

Owners and their representatives, as well as trainers of the 14 BMW Hong Kong Derby contenders, were present at the selections announcement. Peter Lau Pak-fai, owner of last year’s winner Romantic Warrior, shared his memorable once-in-a-lifetime-glory experience as an inspiration to 2023 BMW Hong Kong Derby connections this morning.
