G3 – 1200m – Dirt
1 |
Cloudbridge |
Lightly raced in the UK, and last seen when a remote last of seven on his Meydan debut in January 2022. Not at all easy to fancy for this despite coming from a top stable. |
2 |
Colour Up |
Has either won or finished second in all five races since joining this stable last year. Although in lesser grades than this, his recent victory here was very impressive indeed. |
3 |
Isolate |
A strong 6-12 strike rate on dirt in the US and, though he couldn’t use usual front-running tactics after a slow start in a G3 on his Meydan debut, he kept on really well for second with the first pair clear of the rest. Chance. |
4 |
Manjeer |
Outran his long odds when second in this last year, his first run on dirt. However, recent modest efforts suggest that he will be an outsider again. |
5 |
Mouheeb |
Stable doing well and Mouheeb has improved since joining them, defeating some smart local rivals here in last December, again putting up a good show when third in a G3 in January. |
6 |
Ponntos |
Switches from turf to dirt, having made all the running to win a G3 sprint at Longchamp last May. A good third of 16 – again leading – on his Meydan debut. Not so good in a G2 last time. |
7 |
Sound Money |
A very good win and place dirt record in the US, and, though his wins last year came over 1400m and 1600m, he did run second in a 1300m Belmont G2. Last competed in July 2022. |
8 |
Tuz |
Third in a 1600m G3 at this meeting for the past two years, but he clearly has the speed for this trip, able to lead early from his inside gate when easily winning a G3 in February. A major player. |
9 |
Western Symphony |
Won a 1400m Meydan handicap on a muddy dirt surface two starts back. However his form is exclusively over further than this, and surely he’ll be outgunned by some quicker rivals. |
10 |
Magic Petition |
The only three-year-old in the field. Always prominent, he proved easily too good for seven rivals over this course and distance in January. Couldn’t handle most rivals in a 1600m G3 last time. |
