G1 – 2000m – Dirt
1 |
Ajuste Fiscal |
The easy winner of a handicap here last December but has found things tougher in three course and distance runs since, though didn’t have a good trip last time. |
2 |
Atletico El Culano |
Best of four Meydan runs came at first run this year when – despite being well behind for much of the race – he found good momentum to run into second behind today’s rival Salute The Soldier. |
3 |
Bendoog |
Big and powerful with a front-running profile and a very consistent record. Admittedly he couldn’t handle the very talented Algiers last time but no disgrace in that. A major contender. |
4 |
First Constitution |
Has winning form in Chile (a G1) and the US. Made an encouraging start at Meydan when third in last December, but bitterly disappointing twice since – finishing last each time. |
5 |
Hypothetical |
Withdrawn |
6 |
Ides Of August |
Has winning all-weather form in Ireland but has made very little impact on either of his two Meydan starts this year. An unlikely winner. |
7 |
Injazati |
Won three consecutive races when trained in the UK in 2021, but only competed three times there in 2022. Moves from turf to dirt for this Meydan debut, not obvious from his pedigree. |
8 |
Kafoo |
Made some late headway to finish fourth in this G1 last year. Led 400m out and then kept on when headed, finishing fourth in a 1600m G3 at Jebel Ali last month, his latest start. |
9 |
Law Of Peace |
The winner of three of his six starts at Meydan, two of them over 1600m on a dirt surface. Needs to progress from two fair efforts this year as he moves up in class and distance. |
10 |
Marshall Plan |
Just one win from 17 starts and mostly well beaten in his four starts since coming to the UAE from the UK. Got closer to the money when making late progress into fifth in a G3 at Jebel Ali. |
11 |
Military Law |
Some excellent performances led him to start favourite for this G1 in 2020, finishing second. Some long absences since then and has moved stables since some modest efforts this year. |
12 |
Quality Humor |
Moving up in class – competing in handicaps lately – and also tackling this trip for the first time. Looks to give it his best shot each time, but that won’t probably be good enough here. |
13 |
Salute The Soldier |
Plenty of Meydan success at a high level including when leading most of the way to win this in 2021. Excuses for a poor show last time, having won impressively in January. |
14 |
Sanad Libya |
Always towards the rear when ninth in this last year. Just three starts since including when a strong finishing second in a handicap here last month. |
15 |
Sifting Sands |
Winning turf form in the US, though over shorter trips. Hasn’t shown much in two Meydan starts this year. Hard to recommend. |
