The Stewards have approved an application submitted by Mr J Richards, the trainer of last start winner HAPPY FOR ALL, to remove the Hood and add Sheepskin Cheek Pieces to the gear carried by that horse in the stated race.

The Stewards interviewed Mr Richards who confirmed that Jockey James McDonald, who rode HAPPY FOR ALL to win at Sha Tin on 29 January 2023, advised the horse did not appreciate racing with a Hood as it was too relaxed in that gear and required hard riding to hold its position in the early stages and then when being ridden out to win the race was inclined to lay in.  HAPPY FOR ALL has successfully barrier trialed to the Stewards’ satisfaction without the Hood and with Sheepskin Cheek Pieces added at Sha Tin on 17 February 2023.
