G1 – 1200m – Turf
1 |
Art Power |
Fourth in this G1 in the past two years, not beaten far either time. In top form on his latest start – just his third of 2022 – when always travelling like the winner in a G3 at The Curragh. |
2 |
Brad The Brief |
This eight-times winning speedster thrives on slow ground. Has won both starts this season and surely his G2 victory at The Curragh when last seen, in May, was his career high so far. Positively ridden. |
3 |
Creative Force |
Always travelling nicely he outspeeded 19 rivals to win this G1 dash last year. Has only raced three times since and will have had a 98-day break since his respectable fourth in a Newmarket G1 on faster than ideal ground. |
4 |
Fresh |
Loves this track, boasting some terrific performances in handicaps, and twice charged late to beat big fields over 1400m here in recent months. Respected but some established G1 speedsters may prove too quick |
5 |
Garrus |
Having previously not looked quite up to G1 level but, after outspeeding G3 rivals at Deauville, he was always up with the speed when a close third in a 1300m Deauville G1 when last seen, in August. |
6 |
Gulliver |
An eight times winner but beaten in his last 22 starts and impossible to suggest that he has a realistic chance. |
7 |
King’s Lynn |
Did run a good second in a G3 over this course and distance at around this time last year. Returned from a 105-day absence to run a decent fourth in a Listed event here this month, giving weight to all his rivals. |
8 |
Kinross |
Finished ninth and eighth the twice he has competed in G1’s over this course and distance. Would probably be a hot favourite if this was over 1400m, a trip that he has a fantastic record at including a stylish G1 victory at Longchamp earlier this month. |
9 |
Naval Crown |
His three starts at this track have all been good, especially his G1 defeat of better fancied stablemate Creative Force and 22 others at Royal Ascot. Perhaps the return to this track will again show him at his best. |
10 |
Rohaan |
Badly underperformed in this race last season, a rare poor show over a course and distance that he generally thrives over, especially on slow ground. A G3 winner here on his latest start, surging from the rear as usual. |
11 |
Run To Freedom |
His two wins this season have both come over this trip. But he doesn’t look like a G1 winner waiting to happen. Best on a good or faster surface. |
12 |
Castle Star |
A G3 winner over this trip and on slow ground last year. However his two starts this year do not suggest that he is an obvious candidate for victory in this prestigious sprint. |
13 |
Go Bears Go |
Has competed at this track four times, winning twice. Would have a chance if repeating the fiery front-running performance that saw him land a G3 at The Curragh in August – but he faded in a Haydock G1 last time. |
14 |
Perfect Power |
Gained the third G1 win of his career with a terrifically polished performance at Royal Ascot, appearing to quicken twice. However he has underperformed compared to his brilliant best on his last two starts. |
15 |
Double Or Bubble |
Tough and genuine and twice a G3 winner this season. Whilst running well as an outsider for a Newmarket G1 in July, she doesn’t look up to actually winning at the highest level. |
16 |
Vadream |
Winner of a G3 over this trip last October, reappearing soon after to finish well into fifth in this G1. But she arrives here this time in much less good form so not very fanciable. |
17 |
Ventura Diamond |
Finished a respectable seventh of 20 when a huge odds outsider in this last year. But no obvious encouragement from recent starts that she will get any closer this time. |
18 |
Tenebrism |
Won a 1400m G1 at Deauville in July but connections have now decided that sprinting may see her in her very best light, and she did win a 1200m Newmarket G1 as a two-year-old. |
