2400m – Turf

1 Tritonic A high class hurdler, and his last six starts have been in that discipline. Talented enough on the Flat also and, back in 2020, he came close to winning a Royal Ascot handicap.
2 Rhythmic Intent Probable physical excuses for a dismal start to the season this month. A useful handicapper with a versatile profile though his trainer thinks he’s best on a slow surface.
3 Scarlet Dragon Alternates between Flat and Jump racing, but has failed to win any of his last 13 starts. But this veteran is tough and won off a higher handicap mark on his only previous visit to Newmarket, albeit back in 2016.
4 State Of Bliss From the stable that have won this for the last two years. He advertised the fact that he had progressed from two earlier starts this year when winning a Ripon handicap last week.
5 Matchless In great shape having won his last two starts, and makes a quick return after leading throughout in a Doncaster handicap. But yet to prove he is as effective over this trip as shorter.
6 Love Is Golden His two wins last season came around Chester’s tight bends – very different to Newmarket. Would have finished closer at Epsom this month, had he enjoyed a clear passage.
7 Contact A three-time winner who made a promising return when – although failing to land substantial betting support – ran a close second of 11 in a Thirsk handicap this month.
