1200m – Turf

1 Manaccan His close fourth in a 1000m G3 here last October – despite not having an ideal passage – was a career highlight so far. But that means that he has quite a stiff task back in handicap grade.
2 Annaf Pedigree suggests he will be perfectly happy on grass, with four all-weather starts behind him so far including two victories at Newcastle. His fourth of ten at that track last time was a hot event, and a career best run.
3 Dig Two Sole turf win came in a maiden over 1000m here a year ago. Has been eased 2lb by the handicapper since just a fair run when seventh of 12 here this month.
4 Robjon Only once a winner but has rarely underperformed, though that has meant tricky handicap ratings and was giving weight to the four who finished in front of him here last time. Eased 2lb since.
5 Ernie’s Valentine With a good winning strike-rate in his first season, landing three of his six starts. Starts off this season with quite a challenging handicap rating. Mostly ridden patiently.
6 Favourite Child Will need to upgrade sharply on two starts this year, never seriously threatening. But chances on some of last year’s form including when rallying to almost win a Listed prize at Longchamp.
7 Anadora The trainer planned to give her a break but has been tempted by this prize, coming 17 days after she bravely fended off challengers to win a handicap over this course and distance on her 2022 return.
8 Loves Me Likearock Twice an all-weather winner at two, but her first start for 166 days was surely a career best when a close second of 12 in a handicap here this month, only beaten by one determined rival.
9 Harry Three Having his first turf start last time, and it was also his best run so far. Speedily bred, he showed plenty of dash in that handicap over this course and distance, only beaten 0.5L. Chance.
10 Wyvern Like others here most of his campaigning has been on all-weather surfaces, winning twice including a handicap at this trip. Didn’t make any impact last time.
11 Vespasian Could never challenge from a very difficult gate at Lingfield last time. Twice a winner, he is having his turf debut here but little reason on pedigree to suggest it will be a problem.
12 Ingra Tor Didn’t show much on his career debut, here last year. But two much more lively efforts in novice all-weather company this year, including a win. First start in a handicap.
13 Rainbow Colours Best of her four starts at two came when she led from gate to wire in a novices’ event at Ripon under this jockey, though she ran poorly at Kempton subsequently.
