The Stewards have interviewed Trainer F C Lor regarding his application to remove the Ring Bit and add a Lugging Bit to the gear carried by EN POINTE, a declared starter in the stated race. EN POINTE was successful in its most recent race start over the same course and distance on 3 April 2022 when racing with a Ring Bit as well as Sheepskin Cheek Pieces.
Mr Lor explained that in its most recent race start, EN POINTE lay in in the Home Straight and was difficult to ride. As such he had replaced the bit carried by EN POINTE in its trackwork and both he and Jockey Z Purton, who rode the horse at its recent race starts and in trackwork on 25 April 2022, are satisfied that this change in equipment will assist the horse in racing more tractably.
After considering the merits of Mr Lor’s application and having regard to EN POINTE’s racing manners in a number of its races, the Stewards have approved the gear change. The horse will therefore carry Sheepskin Cheek Pieces and a Lugging Bit in the stated race.
