G3 – 1200m – Dirt
1 |
Al Tariq |
Very effective over this course and distance as he showed with a front-running winning performance in a G3 here in January even if he had the advantage of gate one then. |
2 |
Canvassed |
Certainly one of the very best locally trained dirt sprinters in Dubai, showing that with a strong finish to win this race last year. Nearly won another G3 here last time. |
3 |
Day Approach |
Has winning form over this distance on the turf in Singapore. Shows he also handles dirt well with a handicap victory at Jebel Ali last month. |
4 |
Eastern World |
Down in trip and may not have enough dirt momentum against some of these speedsters – his handicap victory here last year coming over 1800m on a turf surface. |
5 |
Ejtilaab |
Trying dirt for the first time he was certainly not disgraced when 2L fifth in a G3 here in February. Well worth another attempt on this surface. |
6 |
Freedom Fighter |
Two very encouraging G3 runs over this course and distance since moving from the US, latterly a close fourth. Has a wide stall here but looks to have plenty of gate speed. |
7 |
Manjeer |
His two career wins have come on a turf surface and over longer trips than this. Those are the main concerns even if both his starts at Meydan this year have been good. |
8 |
Notre Dame |
A 1200m Santa Anita winner in December, bossing his rivals from the front. Proved his Meydan credentials with an efficient handicap win last month. |
9 |
Positivity |
Formerly competing in California, usually ridden aggressively. His first Meydan start was not encouraging, his second more so even if he never looked like winning that handicap. |
10 |
Premier Star |
One of the favourites for this last year after arriving from the US with a 4-7 winning record. He finished a decent fourth but hasn’t made much impact in two starts since. |
