G1 – 1400m – Turf

1

Duhail

Third in a handicap at this meeting in 2020 but now a group race performer with a consistent profile and two G3 places over this course and distance.

2

Njord

Genuine, he likes passing other horses and is best on good or slower ground. Only beaten a length when fourth in a Leopardstown G2 last time.

3

Kinross

Twice came from the back to win earlier this year, a G3 and G2 – at Haydock and Goodwood – both at this trip. Slow ground preferred.

4

Current Option

All six career wins have come at around this trip. Needs to upgrade significantly on his last two modest runs.

5

Space Blues

A similar trip to this looked ideal when he surged late to win a big money event in Saudi Arabia, again impressive over this trip when landing a York G2 last time. Chance.

6

Entscheiden

This Japanese contender ran way better than his long odds suggested when leading, then only beaten 1.5L in fifth in a G3 here last month – his sole French start.

7

Colosseo

Second at huge odds in a G1 French Classic over 1600m here was a clear career best. Hard to imagine him winning this.

8

Erasmo

An incident last month saw him unseat his rider. Earlier he won over this course and distance, on soft ground in Listed company.

9

Rhythm Master

His last six runs have been in group company, including a close fourth in a Royal Ascot G3 over this trip. An unlikely winner here, however.

10

Thunder Moon

A classy two-year-old including a G1 victory over this trip. One strong G1 effort this season but often very disappointing.

11

Sagamiyra

Has won both her starts over this course and distance, a big plus. Most recently she accelerated impressively to justify favouritism. Chances.

12

Tropbeau

Nearest at the finish when fourth in this last year. Second in a 1300m G1 at Deauville in August was clearly his best 2021 run.

13

Last Empire

Needs soft ground. She seems best after a break, and has had a 67-day gap since proving herself at this trip when winning a Goodwood G3.

14

Pearls Galore

In great shape in all four 2021 starts, including two G3 wins but probably doing best when only just failing to land a 1600m G1 at Leopardstown last month.

15

Speak Of The Devil

A strong surge from off the speed saw her come close to a shock G1 win over 1600m at Deauville. Another strong finish resulted in a G3 third here last month.

16

Onassis

A fast finisher who thrives when the pace is brutal. She continues in good shape but doesn’t look a potential G1 winner.
