1600m – Turf

Aiguiere D’Argent

Battled to a neck success in a mile handicap at Longchamp last month and could go well off a light weight.

Be My Day

Won Class 3 handicap at Longchamp last time out but, even with a light weight in this better race, a win would count as a minor surprise.

Go To Hollywood

Has been running consistently well in handicaps one class below this but has also managed to finish in the first five in his last three attempts at this level, including when fourth in the race last year.

Goldino Bello

Finished a neck behind Aiguiere D’Argent in a handicap over 1,600 metres at Longchamp last month and has generally been in good form.

Haliphon

Had been running over much further but a win on a competitive handicap over 1,800 metres at Compiegne last time suggests this may be more his type of race. First start over a straight course.

Hootton

Only had 10 career starts but may have reached a plateau when winning at Chantilly in April. Two decent efforts in handicaps at Chantilly and Longchamp in last two starts so there may yet be some improvement to come.

Khochenko

Ninth at Longchamp last month, his first race in 26 starts over as short as the 1,600 metres he tackles here. His best form appears reserved for all-weather tracks.

Letty’s Marvel

Looked certain to win at Longchamp last time until caught close home by We Ride The World. That was a first career start at shorter than 1,800 metres and a repeat of that run would see him go close.

Makzeem

Was entitled to need the run when 11th at Longchamp after a four month break. Has some good back form in straight course handicaps when trained in Britain but the balance of his form is on a downward trajectory.

Mon Ami L’ecossais

French trained and has an excellent record in starts at his home course in Deauville. His record on the straight course is impressive, having never finished out of the first three in three starts.

Musetta

Was only beaten a nose in a Listed race at, having also won a Class 2 handicap at La Teste two starts previously. She is in the best form of her career and is one of the more likely winners if her stamina holds out over a straight mile.

Now We Know

Only out of the places in one of his four starts this year having been dropped in class following a 2020 campaign in Listed and Group races. Has the talent to go well if he handles this shorter distance.

Pegasus

All four starts have been at Longchamp this year, including a win in May and a fine third-placed effort last time. Won a handicap over this straight 1,600 metres course last August under a big weight on heavy ground.

Pevensey Bay

Returned with a win off a long layoff last time and had looked to be slowly progressing last season. Probably needs to improve again but that is not impossible for this lightly-raced five-year-old mare.

Prince Hamlet

Regularly features among the placed horses. Recent third at Chantilly and fifth at Longchamp suggest he is in the form to get involved again.

Roderick

Very lightly-raced five-year-old who was second on his most recent starts in Class 2 handicaps at Chantilly and Longchamp. Needs to prove he handles a straight track but open to improvement.

Saga Timgad

Has not given the handicapper any chance to drop his rating with a string of consistent performances. Likely to go well again but this is a better level of opposition than he has been facing.

San Valentina

She has been running well over slightly longer distances but has plenty of form at 1,600 metres. May also be suited to carrying a lighter weight in this slightly better company rather than the welter burden she had to shoulder when ninth in a Class 2 handicap at Longchamp last time.

Sky Power

Four-year-old has done some of his racing in Listed and Group company and has only run in four handicaps, including a win, a second and a fourth. Well below best latest from poor outside draw.

Stanzo

A run of six straight finishes in the first five came to an end last time out at Longchamp and while he has place chances, a win looks less likely.

Stranger

Went up quite a lot in the weights for two wins on the all-weather over the winter and it remains to be seen whether the handicapper might need to drop him a little before he can get his head back in front. Wasn’t beaten that far when 11th on most recent start on what has only his second run for new yard.

Toijk

Not run over 1,600 metres since finishing fourth in a Class 3 handicap at Clairefontaine last August, with most starts since being over sprint distances. Fair second over 1,400 metres last start.

Tonnencourt

Running extremely consistently, having finished in the first four in 7 of his last 11 starts. That may in part be due to the trainer placing him well since he has been sliding down the handicap since his last win in August 2019.

Urwald

Looked a very smart prospect as a young horse but has never quite fulfilled his potential. A few sparks of hope since changing stables but the balance of his form is not overly-encouraging.

Vilaro

First start at below 2,000 metres since January 2021, he has been a little below his generally consistent form since winning at Saint-Cloud in March. Place claims.
