1600m – Turf

Mystery Smiles |
Off the track since outclassed in a G1 Classic at Newmarket in May, having earlier run a good third in a G3 at the same track. With plenty of weight but he may enjoy the class drop. |

Latest Generation |
His only win came over a straight 1600m, similar to what he will face here. A good second in handicaps at Sandown and Newmarket this season. Fast ground looks to suit. |

Fantastic Fox |
In a soft-ground Royal Ascot handicap over further than this, he surged off in front but once headed he folded quickly. This lesser trip and the possibility of fast ground will be a help. |

Isla Kai |
Has now won his last three starts – all at around this distance – and leading from the gate each time. All those came on slow ground so rain at Ascot would surely be a plus. |
5 |
Titan Rock |
A big gelding whose trainer believes he is best on a fast racing surface. Off the same handicap mark as when third at Newmarket this month, not helping by racing too keenly. |
6 |
Guru |
Much improved by a gelding operation and also when blinkered for his handicap debut when a close second here at Ascot this month, closing with determination late on. |
7 |
Marsabit |
Has had some training issues, but he’s an improved performer this year – winning three of his four handicap runs. Up 5lb but his attitude is right and there could be more to come. |
