G3 – 1009m – Turf
1 |
Lazuli |
Showed his class when winning a 1000m G3 at Newmarket in May, outpaced at one stage but responding to his jockey’s urgings. Best on good or faster ground. |
2 |
Ainsdale |
The softer the ground the better for him. Two good runs on those conditions in 2021, latterly when his late surge only just failed in a G2 at Haydock. |
3 |
Arecibo |
Has been in career-best form lately, easily winning a hot Newmarket handicap, then runner-up in a G1 sprint at Royal Ascot on faster ground than he prefers. Live chance. |
4 |
Came From The Dark |
Best suited to challenging late off a brutal pace and his power-packed finish only just failed to win him a G3 sprint at Newmarket in May. Looks versatile surface-wise. |
5 |
Count D’Orsay |
Best on slow ground over this trip and not beaten far in any of his last three starts. But ratings suggest that this is quite a tough challenge. |
6 |
Rocket Action |
Comes back from a break and has not previously shown his best form off an absence. Yet to win on a turf surface, another worry for his supporters. |
7 |
Stone Of Destiny |
Ran decently on his only previous Sandown run, and also good efforts in handicaps and when only beaten 4L in a Royal Ascot G1 last time. Has often been unlucky in running. |
8 |
Keep Busy |
Has not won above Listed level but very encouraging that she has not been beaten far in three G1 sprinting attempts. Outclassed lesser rivals at Ayr last month. |
9 |
Atalis Bay |
Taking on older horses, but three-year-olds have a good record in this G3. He responded well to fend off challengers, leading throughout in a Listed sprint here last month. |
10 |
Happy Romance |
Proved that she had trained into a decent three-year-old with a 1200m Listed all-weather win, despite meeting trouble. Recent turf form has been less convincing. |
