1990m – Turf
1 |
Breath Caught |
Stable continue in good form, and, though this is his first start of the season, he came back from a break to comfortably win a Newmarket handicap last September. |
2 |
Rhythmic Intent |
Has only beaten one horse to the finishing wire in two starts this season, but the handicapper has only eased him 1lb. Slow ground is ideal, and a fast pace would help. |
3 |
Restorer |
Has not excelled on two previous Sandown runs but is a decent six-times winner who lasts this trip well. Kept battling all the way when runner-up at Newmarket last time. |
4 |
Pivoine |
Returned to winning form in a Haydock handicap last time, briefly looking in trouble but easily on top at the end. If handling slower ground he has chances off just a 3lb higher mark. |
5 |
Man Of The Night |
Awarded the race after being bumped in a fast-ground Doncaster handicap on his latest start, the application of blinkers appearing to help. Handles slower ground also. |
6 |
Classical Wave |
Talented but a tricky ride as he showed when hanging and failing to respond to his rider, getting disqualified from first place at Windsor. Has moved to a higher-profile stable since. |
7 |
Dream With Me |
Suited to this trip, twice winning handicaps over it earlier in 2021. Faded fast at Epsom but this stable’s handicappers often bounce back quickly. Good or faster ground preferred. |
8 |
Makram |
From a stable in good form, and Makram has posted two career best efforts since elevated to a similar trip to this especially when runner-up at Redcar last time. Wants a strong pace. |
9 |
Luigi Vampa |
A big strong gelding who kicked off 2021 with a victory over a longer trip than this at Windsor. He wants further than this ideally but Sandown does require plenty of stamina. |
10 |
Water’s Edge |
His three turf wins have all come at this trip, on a variety of ground surfaces, but probably does best on slow ground. Recent starts offer hope of another win soon. |
11 |
Sword Beach |
Only 1-18 wins on turf, but he ran perhaps a career best on his only previous visit to Sandown when a close second in a 1600m handicap. No worries at this longer trip. |
