Bedford Flyer

A candidate for the early lead here, and front-running tactics saw this speedster easily fend off 12 rivals at York last time. Penalised 7lb for that victory.

First Company

Yet to win from six starts but his two runs this season suggest that he is at least as good this year as he was last year. But this looks tough.

Caroline Dale

Her best two-year-old effort came in a 1000m G2 for two-year-old fillies at this meeting, a closing third at huge odds. That is encouraging though she hasn’t raced since last August.

Hala Hala Hala

It is positive that her best run came here when runner-up in a 1200m G3 last July. But generally disappointing since.

Warrior Brave

This has been the target planned by his shrewd owners after he came from last to first to win at Goodwood in April. Should be sharper for a close second at Sandown this month.

Boomshalaa

His two 2021 starts were both over further but he has not looked short of speed in winning those novices’ events at Kempton and Windsor, latterly with an impressively sustained surge.

Significantly

Yet to win from eight turf starts but second in six of them, latterly only finding a smart rival too strong at Hamilton. Works so well at home that his trainer thinks he’s potentially better than a handicapper.

Following a break and wind surgery, he led from gate to wire in a novices’ event at Wolverhampton last month.

Rebel At Dawn

His trainer thinks he’s best at 1200m, but plenty of evidence suggests he’s very smart at this pure speed trip as he has shown on his last two starts. Best on fast ground.

Charlie Fellowes

His only turf win came over this trip and on fast ground. Proved difficult to steer at Sandown last time.

Popmaster

Has come close to winning all three starts this season, his fast finish only failing by a nose most recently. Gelded since his last start, he must now prove he’s as good over 1000m as 1200m.

Dense Star

Last of nine in a dash over this trip at Sandown very recently which is not encouraging as far as this challenge is concerned. No recent sign that she is progressing.

Mo Celita

Has won her last five starts with the figures suggesting race-by-race improvement, especially impressive from the front at Haydock last time. Now with a challenging handicap rating to handle.

Equality

A lightly-raced unexposed colt who has had a break since delivering a front-running thrashing to four rivals at Wolverhampton. Admittedly those horses were all well beaten in later starts.

From a small stable but comes here in great form, winning handicaps on contrasting surfaces on his last two starts.

Clearly has a lot of speed judging by the thrashing she gave to 11 rivals at Windsor last year. Encouraging on her 2021 return.

Busy lately, winning at Ayr and second in sprints at Redcar and York this month. Decently handicapped and best on good or fast ground.

First start over this pure speed trip and first run on grass also. Certainly not an obvious winner, but stable going well.

All his starts have been on good or slower ground, probably preferred conditions. Will need to be forgiven a dismal run last time.

The winner of just one of his eleven starts. Almost won a handicap dash over this trip on fast ground at Nottingham in April.

Wings Of A Dove

Yet to win in nine starts but does usually show plenty of gate speed as she did on her 2021 reappearance when fifth of 14 at Bath in April. Not seen since.

His two wins came over further than this and well beaten on his only turf start.

His two career wins have come over this trip on good and soft ground and slow conditions seem to suit best. Ran okay on too quick ground last time.

Generally seen over 1200m, a trip he keeps running well at including a front-running novices’ victory early this month.
