1203m – Turf

1

Danzeno

A veteran of 50 races (seven wins) but this is his first ever visit to Epsom. Lots of very solid placed efforts last year and, though he has hasn’t raced since last October, he has won off an absence before.

2

Aberama Gold

Yet to win in seven 2021 attempts but has mostly finished close to the winner’s money. Hasn’t raced at Epsom before but has performed well at different tracks on different surfaces. Five of his six wins over this trip.

3

Lexington Dash

Best at this trip and he posted a career-best performance when too strong for his rivals in the closing stages at Doncaster. Has a 5lb stiffer handicap mark now but in current form still has chances.

4

Desert Safari

A multiple all-weather winner over this trip, he was made favourite to win a turf sprint over 1000m, at Goodwood last month and showed a battling attitude to narrowly land that handicap. Has a 4lb tougher assignment in the handicap this time.

5

Barbill

Last success came over this trip when he scooted around Chester’s tight bends to land a handicap there last August. Chance if he can repeat that whilst he appears to need good or slow ground.

6

Justanotherbottle

Mixed messages in 2021, though he did run a good second in a sprint handicap two starts back when conceding a lot of weight to the winner. His trainer thinks he’s best suited to 1000m.

7

Atalanta’s Boy

A specialist at this trip, he reappeared after a 203-day break apparently better than ever to win at Goodwood despite being slow from the gate. A rising handicap mark might not prevent another big effort.

8

Tinto

A small gelding, he has failed to win on his last 17 starts, and, though his handicap mark is becoming easier, one would like to have seen more spark from him in recent starts. Epsom debut.

9

Ejtilaab

From a stable that have won this before. He ran a good second to a well-handicapped winner at Chester a week ago. Down in trip but his pedigree boasts plenty of speed.

10

Canagat

Has winning all-weather form earlier in his career, but yet to win on turf and beaten a long way at Longchamp when last seen. Has now moved to a local Epsom stable and drops in trip.

11

Kimifive

Has failed to win his last 19 starts but has gone close on various occasions and he made an encouraging return after a 203 day break when third of eight at Goodwood. Best on quick ground.

12

Open Wide

Not beaten far on his only previous Epsom run, and came back from a break looking in good shape when fourth at Goodwood in April though the modest pace was probably against him.

13

Muscika

Has plenty of winning sprint form on a variety of surfaces though in his 53-race career this is his first chance to prove himself at Epsom. Reasonably handicapped but not notably consistent.

14

Indian Sounds

Will need to upgrade on his two starts this season, well held each time. Three times a handicap winner in 2020 and, although they were all over around 1000m, he’s versatile and has won over as far as 1400m.
