The Stewards have today spoken with Trainer D A Hayes regarding the work undertaken by HAPPY ALUMNI since returning to Sha Tin from Conghua on 29 January 2021 with the horse engaging in swimming exercise only. Mr Hayes advised that after having its last intended gallop at Conghua on 28 January 2021, HAPPY ALUMNI was transported to his Sha Tin stable in order to participate at tomorrow night’s Happy Valley race meeting. He said that HAPPY ALUMNI is a particularly difficult horse to manage and has become increasingly reluctant to enter either the Large or Small All Weather Tracks at both Conghua and Sha Tin and as a consequence the horse had not been able to complete any intended slow work since returning to Sha Tin. He said however that he had endeavoured to compensate for the lack of slow work by increasing the swimming activity of HAPPY ALUMNI from 29 January until the present day.
