The end of season rating review is used as an opportunity to re-examine the ratings of all horses in training in advance of the next racing season. Through this review, the Handicappers can provide relief in future handicaps to horses whose records indicate that would be appropriate, where normal handicapping practices may not have permitted special consideration to be applied during the season.
In the review, the performances of a total of 1,194 horses were evaluated. Special consideration has been given to horses whose performances indicated deterioration, including long-time non-winners and those with serious injuries or health conditions that have been unable to start for some time. In line with these considerations, the ratings of 47.7% of the rated population have been reduced.
