1403m – Turf
1 | Straight Right | Never got competitive after a slow start at Royal Ascot last time. He is slipping down the weights but his 0-10 strike-rate on turf is a worry. |
2 | Hateya | Has gone 16 runs without a win but there have been some near misses and he goes well at this track, his last win came with a last-to-first swoop here. |
3 | Magical Wish | Didn’t make much impact in a Royal Ascot handicap last time, but had previously shown a good attitude to win over this trip at Lingfield. |
4 | Alemaratalyoum |
Needs to come from off the speed and his last start suggested that he might be hitting form now. He also ran well on his only Epsom start. |
5 | Buridan | Withdrawn |
6 | Dirty Rascal | Will need to upgrade on his 2020 return when last in a Royal Ascot handicap. Also took time to hit top form in 2019, eventually winning at Goodwood for a different stable. |
7 | Comin’ Through | Led early in the 2018 LONGINES Hong Kong Mile when Australian-trained. Well beaten on most UK starts but encouragement last time, and potentially well handicapped. |
8 | Reputation | Some disappointing runs in the second part of 2019 means he starts 2020 on a reasonable handicap mark. Has won after a break before, and also at this track. |
9 | Dream Today | Hasn’t won for 12 starts but some good performances including when 3rd at Windsor last time. If this awkward track suits, he is quite well handicapped. |
10 | Markazi | May be best leading, tactics that saw him win a handicap off a 4lb easier handicap mark at Ayr last year. Not beaten far on his latest start. |
11 | Count Otto | It is 15 races since he won but this closer might have won two starts back with more luck. His Epsom record is good including a 1200m win here. |
12 | Muntadab |
The mount of very talented Ben Curtis, he ran his best race for some time when only just beaten after leading last month. This trip is ideal. |
13 | Tintoretto | Has won his last two starts and his Kempton win last month looks like a career best. A big horse, hopefully he will be well balanced enough to handle this track. |
14 | Corazon Espinado | His last eight runs have been on all-weather surfaces, but his last turf win came with a front-running victory here at Epsom, a track that suits him. |
15 | Knowing Glance | Twice a winner on all-weather surfaces over this trip earlier in the year. Another decent effort last time when having to challenge wide. |
16 | Medieval | Expensive to follow as he has been beaten in his last 21 starts. Also he hasn’t raced for 271 days. At least his stable are in hot form. |
