At the Sha Tin racemeeting conducted yesterday, Jockey N Callan was found guilty of a charge of careless riding and was suspended from riding in races for the racemeeting to be conducted at Happy Valley on Wednesday, 3 June 2020. As such, N Callan is eligible to resume race riding on Thursday, 4 June 2020.
When making a submission to the Racing Stewards to enable a determination to be made on which racemeeting he would be suspended as part of the penalty, Jockey Callan initially applied to serve the suspension on Wednesday, 27 May 2020, however, this application was rejected given the number of available jockeys for the Sha Tin racemeeting to be conducted on that date.
Jockey Callan has today informed the Racing Stewards that when making an alternate application to serve his riding suspension on Wednesday, 3 June 2020, he had overlooked that he had already accepted several race riding engagements for the aforementioned racemeeting.
Given the circumstances, the Racing Stewards have decided that Jockey Callan may defer his suspension and serve this penalty on Sunday, 7 June 2020, a day on which a racemeeting is to be conducted at Sha Tin Racecourse. Accordingly, Jockey Callan may resume race riding on Monday, 8 June 2020.
