ENJOYING (D66)
The BMW Hong Kong Derby

On Wednesday, 11 March 2020, the Stewards interviewed Mr. J Moore, the trainer of ENJOYING (D66), which holds an entry in the BMW Hong Kong Derby to be conducted at Sha Tin Racecourse on Sunday, 22 March 2020, regarding a matter which was referred to them by the Department of Veterinary Regulation, Welfare and Biosecurity Policy.

Also interviewed were Dr Anil Prabhu, Veterinary Officer and Dr. Alex Davis, Veterinary Surgeon.

It was established that after ENJOYING galloped on 28 February 2020 the horse displayed behaviour which indicated a brief episode of an irregular heart rhythm, such indication being supported by a subsequent veterinary examination.

Having considered the veterinary evidence provided by Dr Prabhu and Dr Davis, Mr Moore was informed that the Stewards would require ENJOYING to gallop on 3 occasions during which the horse will be fitted with ECG equipment.  The ECG results of each gallop will be considered by expert internal and external veterinarians.  The result of the information obtained after each gallop will determine whether the horse is permitted to undertake a further gallop and to continue to retain its place in the field for the BMW Hong Kong Derby.

ENJOYING galloped this morning with the ECG equipment applied, the results of which should be available tomorrow, Saturday, 14 March 2020.
