Race 7 – Lai King Handicap (Second Section) – 1 March 2020 Sha Tin Racemeeting

When entries were published for the two sections of this race (first section, Race 9, Lai King Handicap), FORZA ANGEL was a “common” reserve for both sections.  However, in accordance with prior practice, FORZA ANGEL was only shown as the reserve in the first section of the race with an allocated weight of 118 lbs.  When declarations were published on the morning of Thursday, 27 February 2020, FORZA ANGEL was correctly shown as the Standby Declared Starter for both sections of the race.

On Thursday, 27 February 2020, AWE was a post-declaration withdrawal from Race 7 which resulted in FORZA ANGEL being promoted into the field for this race.

Due to the ratings of the top-weighted horses entered for both sections being different, FORZA ANGEL was allocated the weight of 119 lbs in Race 7 with the allocated weight for Race 9 being 118 lbs.  The correct allocated weight of 119 lbs in Race 7 was published on the list of Declared Starters issued on Thursday, 27 February 2020.  However, the horse’s allocated weight for Race 7 has been incorrectly shown on the Club’s website and published in the Official Programme and online Race Form as 118 lbs.  As far as can be ascertained, all other relevant publications showed the correct allocated weight of 119 lbs.  It is yet to be established how the weight was incorrectly shown on the Club’s website and published in the Official Programme and online Race Form.  Those investigations are on-going.

The Club’s website and online Race Form have been updated to show FORZA ANGEL’s correct allocated weight of 119 lbs.

As FORZA ANGEL’s allocated weight as published on the list of Declared Starters was correct, FORZA ANGEL will remain in the field for Race 7 with the published allocated weight of 119 lbs.
