The Stewards have spoken to Trainer D J Whyte regarding his application to add a Crossed Nose Band to the gear to be worn by UNCLE STEVE in this race. The horse was successful in its most recent start on 6 October 2019 when carrying Sheepskin Cheek Pieces only. That was the horse’s only race start for his stable.

Mr Whyte stated that UNCLE STEVE has not raced since October last year and the horse has been working keenly in his trackwork. As such he applied a Crossed Nose Band to the horse in its trackwork and in its barrier trials on 24 January 2020 and 4 February 2020, and he is of the opinion that the addition of this piece of gear assisted the horse in settling and will therefore benefit from it during racing.

Having considered Mr Whyte’s application and after viewing UNCLE STEVE’s barrier trials, the Stewards acceded to his request. Accordingly, UNCLE STEVE will race with Sheepskin Cheek Pieces and a Crossed Nose Band in this race.
