At the Happy Valley racemeeting conducted last night, Jockey B Shinn was found guilty of a charge of careless riding and was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire on Thursday, 16 January 2020 on which day he may resume race riding. During the inquiry, Jockey Shinn requested the Racing Stewards defer the commencement date of the suspension until after Wednesday, 8 January 2020. During this period, two Hong Kong racemeetings are scheduled to be conducted.
Jockey Shinn informed the Racing Stewards this morning that he neglected to advise last night that he had accepted race riding engagements at the Sha Tin racemeeting to be conducted on Saturday, 11 January 2020.
As the Racing Stewards would have permitted Jockey Shinn to fulfil these race riding engagements had they been made aware of the commitments when ruling on the period of suspension, the commencement date of the suspension would have been such that allowed Jockey Shinn to fulfil the race riding engagements on 11 January 2020.
It has therefore been decided that Jockey Shinn’s period of suspension from riding in races is now to commence on Wednesday, 1 January 2020 and to expire on Monday, 6 January 2020 on which day he may resume race riding. Two Hong Kong racemeetings will be held during the revised period of suspension which is consistent with the previous ruling.
