G1 – 1600m – Turf

Accidental Agent |
Not an easy horse to train as it takes a lot to get him fit and he sometimes refuses to race. But he does love Ascot as he showed with his shock G1 victory over this straight 1600m in June 2018. Seems to handle any ground. |

Benbatl |
A real class operator who has won three G1’s on three different continents. Returning from a 335-day break he showed his class yet again when dominating from the start in a G2 over 1600m at Newmarket last month. Big chance if he handles the ground. |

Century Dream |
Last year he won a Listed race over this straight 1600m on soft ground, also well outrunning his long odds when 3rd in this G1 last year. Not seen since Meydan in March but he has performed well after a break before and this has been his target. |

Imaging |
Gradually improving and very consistent. Caught close home by The Revenant in a G2 at Baden-Baden in May, and, he returned 129 days later when again just beaten by another smart rival in a G3 at Tipperary this month. Happy at this trip, and handles slow ground. |
5 |
Lord Glitters |
Could never make significant progress from off the pace when 6th in this last year. However he has since won his first G1, and over this straight mile – coming fast and late in June having always travelled comfortably. Handles soft ground. |
6 |
Raising Sand |
Loves Ascot though generally seen carrying big weights in handicap company, and, despite missing the break, his powerful surge saw him beat 22 rivals here in July. The slower the ground, the better his chance of making an impact in this stronger company. |
7 |
Safe Voyage |
Likes testing ground as he showed when galloping through the mud to win a G3 at Haydock in June. Rarely runs a bad race and his 4th in a G1 at Longchamp this month was better than it looked as he had an interrupted passage. |
8 |
The Revenant |
His affection for slow ground will make him popular here. A winning machine, having landed 8 of his 10 starts, he stretched clear of his rivals in a G2 over this distance at Longchamp earlier this month – a career best effort. Pierre-Charles Boudot booked again. |
9 |
Happy Power |
As his breeding suggests he is happiest on slow ground, his last win coming in a Listed event on those conditions at York over this distance. Hasn’t found things so easy in higher grade since but the ground has not been soft in those races. |
10 |
King Of Change |
Has not competed on testing ground but his trainer commented after last month’s Listed race win at Sandown that he thinks this horse will enjoy soft conditions. Lightly raced and has done nothing wrong in his career so far. |
11 |
King Of Comedy |
Has only won as high as Listed level but he looked unlucky not to win a Royal Ascot G1 over this trip -though on the round course – before running out of gas in a G1 over further at York, and a 2nd at Newmarket. A fast gallop would help him. |
12 |
Magna Grecia |
Confirmed his classy two-year-old form when beating 18 rivals in the G1 2000 Guineas (1600m) at Newmarket in May, helped by a track bias but still an excellent effort. However not at the same level in the Irish version at The Curragh, and not seen since. |
13 |
Mohaather |
Always highly regarded and on just his third start he was a comfortable G3 winner on slow ground at Newbury despite being the outsider of the field. Not seen since another 1400m Newbury G3 win on his 2019 return. Not sure to have the stamina for this trip on testing ground. |
14 |
Move Swiftly |
Did not make her 2019 return until June, but it didn’t stop her beating 16 rivals in that G2 at Royal Ascot over this straight mile, helped by the slowing ground. Moved up to G1 company at Deauville – also over 1600m – but didn’t show the same flair. |
15 |
Phoenix Of Spain |
Would come right into this assignment on the form of his front-running runaway success in a G1 Irish 2000 Guineas over 1600m at The Curragh in May. Not as good since though he was keeping on at the end when 5th in a Longchamp G1 last month. |
16 |
Veracious |
Did seem to handle slow ground when a good 4th of 17 over this course and distance in a G2 in June. Has since won a fast ground Newmarket G1 with a bold front-running performance and nothing wrong with her G1 Newmarket 2nd this month. |
