The Hong Kong Jockey Club respects the Coroner’s decision with respect to our late employee, Mr Mok Chun Wa.

The safety of employees is always the Club’s top priority. Whilst the horse training arrangement at the Club’s racecourses conforms to international best practice, there is an ongoing exercise to review and strengthen the safety and emergency measures of our horse training activities at our racecourses. The Club will take the recommendations made by the Coroner into account in such ongoing review.

Since the accident, the Club has immediately enhanced the on-site medical support for trackwork, which includes arranging for an ambulance and medical staff to be on standby in the stables area at all times, including off-season, when training activities are conducted. The Club will also take into account the other recommendation made by the Coroner and take steps to minimise the risk of horses under training in the sand yard being affected by other activities in proximity.
