The Hong Kong Jockey Club is staging the Hong Kong Reunification Raceday at Sha Tin Racecourse on 1 July 2019 (Monday) to mark the 22nd anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
The raceday will have two feature races, the Hong Kong Reunification Cup (Race 7) and the Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup (Race 6).
The Hong Kong Reunification Cup celebrates the on-going achievements of Hong Kong’s world-class racing. Horse racing is Hong Kong’s most popular spectator sport and an integral part of Hong Kong’s image as a world-class city. Through horse racing, the Club demonstrates its commitment to global excellence, and giving back to society.
The Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup celebrates the anniversary of Hong Kong’s reunification with China and showcases the fruitful co-operation and exchange in sports and culture between Guangdong and Hong Kong. The Club is a long-standing supporter of equestrian development in Guangdong. Conghua Racecourse (CRC) has come into operation since August 2018 and the Club staged its first Exhibition Raceday in March this year, which was not only a historic moment for Hong Kong racing but also demonstrated the potential of CRC to contribute to the development of equine sports in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, building on the close co-operation between Guangdong and Hong Kong.
VR games and photo corners add more fun to the day
Alongside the exciting races, a range of on-course activities will be offered at Sha Tin Racecourse on the day. Racegoers can experience the excitement of horse riding as jockeys by participating in virtual reality (VR) riding games, while instant print photo corners will help them capture the fun moment and spread joy among friends and family.
Foldable fans commemorating the event will be given out to racegoers as a gift upon entry. The fans will be distributed until the start of Race 5 on a first-come-first-served basis, while stocks last.
