2405m – Turf

1 Byron Flyer Ran well in a handicap over this course and distance back in 2016, his only previous Epsom visit. Three straight wins in 2018 resulted in a climbing handicap mark and he has top weight here. Should be sharper for a York run in May.
2 Aquarium A six-times winner but he has experienced some lengthy losing sequences. Bounced back last time with a handicap victory around Chester’s tight bends but will now need to prove he can handle this longer trip though the stable have a good past record in this race.
3 Sextant Yet to run a bad race and he gained his second success when launching a strong challenge from the back in the Ascot straight, bounding clear in that handicap over this trip. Looks progressive.
4 Fire Fighting Silvestre de Sousa has ridden this tough competitor (a winner of 13 of his 88 starts) earlier in his career. Has plenty of Epsom experience including a win here way back in 2013. Only beaten right on the wire at Hamilton in May so seems in good shape, and well handicapped.
5 Mazzuri From a stable that have plundered this prize before. Irish-trained last season when front-running seemed to suit her best. Maybe those tactics will be tried again as she was too keen when restrained in Listed company at Goodwood last time.
6 Genetics Started to hit top form at about this time last year, winning three handicaps and also running very well here at Epsom. He looked happiest when racing close to the pace or leading but never managed to get near the front at Chester on his return in May.
7 Breath Caught Has been gelded and changed trainer since his last run 232 days ago. Led from the gates when outclassing his rivals in an all-weather handicap at Kempton last September but didn’t appear to cope with a higher handicap mark at Newmarket subsequently.
8 Eddystone Rock When he hits top form it tends to last for a few races and he’s been in great form lately, latterly when surviving a slow break at Chester but still outstaying his rivals over a longer trip than this. Has won off a higher handicap mark in the past so still looks OK treated.
9 Grandee Doesn’t have a great strike-rate on turf, having won just two of his 22 starts. However his form seems to have marginally improved since joining this stable, keeping on well for fourth in a good York handicap last time. Back up to a trip that he’s won over in the past.
10 Soto Sizzler Seemed to enjoy the peculiarities of this track, strong at the finish when winning over this distance on his first visit here, in April. His rating has risen from 83 to 88 but he is lightly raced and there may be more improvement to come. Stamina looks his forte.
11 Kyllachy Gala Ran a good second in a York handicap last October but has not thrived since moving to this stable and has been very well beaten on his last few starts. Hard to fancy.
