G1 – 2000m – Turf

Happy Clapper Runner-up to Winx in G2 Apollo Stakes (1400m) and in G1 Chipping Norton Stakes (1600m) before 3.7 lengths 8th to Mystic Journey in All-Star Mile (1600m) at Flemington on 16 March. Back to Randwick where boasts seven wins. Not won at 2000m but placed three of four this course and distance including third to Winx in this race last year.
Hartnell Four times a runner-up to Winx including in this race in 2017 and did win at only other start this course and distance. Eight-year-old but continues to perform well at the top level. Had no luck getting clear run when 1.25 lengths 2nd to Mystic Journey in the All-Star Mile (1600m) at Flemington on 16 March before 2.5 lengths third, under top weight, to Brutal in G1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) last Saturday.
Harlem Last start winner, at 30/1, of the G1 Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington on 9 March; winning by a nose from Shillelagh. Won same race, left handed, in 2018 at big odds. Unplaced four previous runs going right handed in Sydney.
He’s Eminent Sound front-running effort at Australian debut when 2.3 lengths 2nd to the in-form Avilius in G1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill on 23 March. That was on heavy ground while his three wins have come on good tracks. Raced as Eminent in the UK where best form included G3 Craven Stakes win; G1 Epsom Derby fourth to Wings Of Eagles and G2 win in the Prix Guillaume in France.
Kluger Japanese visitor who impressed at Australian debut last Saturday with strong finishing 2.7 lengths 4th to Brutal in G1 Doncaster Mile (1600m). Tougher task under the conditions of this race but has won at distance and likely to appreciate firmer track surface.
Mask Of Time Enjoyed a comfortable lead when 2.5 lengths 4th to Mister Sea Wolf in G3 Doncaster Prelude (1500m) at Rosehill on 30 March. Proven at longer trip but poor winning strike rate and up in class.
Winx Champion mare chasing her 33rd consecutive win and 25th at Group 1 level. Won this race in the past two years and no signs of slowing down with three wins in 2019 after closing out 2018 with fourth straight Cox Plate success. Latest win came in G1 George Ryder Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill on 23 March – second and third in the Ryder then ran one-two in G1 Doncaster Mile. Handles all conditions. This may be her final start.
Danzdanzdance Battled on fairly when 2.7 lengths 3rd to Avilius in G1 Ranvet Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill on 23 March. All wins have come on slow or heavy ground.
Shillelagh Finished strongly when nose 2nd to Harlem in G1 Australian Cup (2000m) at Flemington on 9 March. Then failed on heavy track in G1 Ranvet Stakes before working home fairly when 3.5 lengths 5th to Brutal in G1 Doncaster Mile (1600m) on soft ground at Randwick last Saturday. Drier track would suit.
