G1 – 1200m – Turf

Snow Dragon This 11yo veteran has not won since taking the G1 Sprinters Stakes in 2014. Placed only once from 6 starts in 2018, a neck 3rd in the JPN G3 Hokkaido Sprint Cup (dirt 1200m) at Monbetsu in June. Only beat one when 15th in the G3 Ocean Stakes (1200m) at Nakayama on 2 March latest.
Rhein Spirit Fought on well to finish 0.75L 3rd behind Fine Needle in the G1 Sprinters Stakes (1200m) in September. Well beaten in 3 runs since, including when he missed the break and never got a run when 8th in the G3 Hankyu Hai (1400m) at Hanshin in February latest. Usually sits handy. Best on firm and good.
Mr Melody Winner of the G3 Falcon Stakes (1400m) at this track last March. Fought on for a smart 4th in the G1 NHK Mile Cup in May. Rounded off his 2018 campaign with a half-length 2nd in the G2 Hanshin Cup (1400m) in December, but was below par when 7th in the 1400m G3 Hankyu Hai latest. Back to 1200m on the left-handed course will be a positive factor.
Seiun Kosei Held off Let’s Go Donki to win this race in 2017. Only win since being the G3 Hakodate Sprint Stakes (1200m) last June but was well beaten in his recent three outings. Races on speed or settles close to the speed. No ground concerns.
Teehaff This 9yo can still find his groove as he finished 3rd twice recently, in the Listed Yodo Tankyori Stakes (1200m) and the G3 Silk Road Stakes (1200m), both at Kyoto, in January. Handles all going. Hold-up runner.
Ares Barows Notched his first graded stakes win in the G3 CBC Sho (1200m) at Chukyo last July and claimed the subsequent 1200m G3 Kitakyushu Kinen at Kokura a month later. Was below par in both starts in autumn but bounced back when 3L 5th in the 1200m G3 Silk Road Stakes at Kyoto latest.
Shonan Anthem Only raced twice over the distance in 34 career outings, including his success in a 2yo maiden event and 5th to Mozu Superflare in the G3 Ocean Stakes (1200m) at Nakayama latest. Races on speed or sits handy. Prefers left-handed track and cut in the ground.
Let’s Go Donki G1 Oka Sho (1600m) winner in 2015. Ran smart 2nd in each of the last two renewals of this race. Dashed to the front early in the stretch but was caught late when 1L 2nd first-up in the G3 Hankyu Hai (1400m) on 24 February latest. Second-up now and it will be more of a positive factor for her. She is fit and ready. No track concerns.
Nac Venus Closed late for half-length 3rd behind Fine Needle in this race last year. Beaten by Mozu Superflare in both her outings this term, in a 1200m Open race at Nakayama in January and the G3 Ocean Stakes (1200m) on 2 March. Sits handily and no track worries.
Love Kampf Narrowly beaten when delivered career-best neck 2nd to Fine Needle in the G1 Sprinters Stakes (1200m) last September. Hugely disappointing as she finished last in each of her two starts this term, including last time in the G3 Ocean Stakes on 2 March. Capable to mount a challenge if she turns up here. Races on speed or handy. No ground issues.
Hiruno Devaro This 8yo ran a nose 2nd in the G3 Hakodate Sprint Stakes (1200m) last June but well-beaten in 5 starts since. He had jumping training after his last start and reportedly shown some changes with his movements. Prefers cuts in the ground. Usually settles back.
Logi Cry Blocked for a run in the stretch but closed well for 3rd in the G3 Hankyu Hai in February, his first start over 1400m. Two-time G3 winner over the mile, but this distance should be no concern. Usually sits handy. Has won over rain-affected track.
Danon Smash Seeking for a hat-trick here after comfortable wins in the G3 Keihan Hai in November and G3 Silk Road Stakes in January. Posted 3 wins and a 2nd since stepped back to 1200m last summer. No track concerns. Races close to the speed.
Peisha Felicita Won 1 of 6 starts, an open class event over the distance at Nakayama, last year, also 3rd to Nac Venus in the G3 Keeneland Cup (1200m) in August. Fair runs in 3 starts so far this term, including 4th in the 1200m G3 Ocean Stakes at Nakayama on 2 March latest. Usually settles midfield or better. Handles all going.
Mozu Superflare Six wins from 14 starts, all wins over the distance. These include her last two as she first took in a 1200m Open race in her seasonal debut at Nakayama in January. Notched her first graded success when made all in the 1200m G3 Ocean Stakes on 2 March. Races on speed. Tested only on firm and good track.
Dea Regalo Won 6 of her 14 career starts, including two over the distance. Her first graded success came in the G3 Kyoto Himba Stakes (1400m) in February latest. Will make her first start at Chukyo. No ground issues and settles midfield.
Daimei Fuji Finished 3rd in last year’s G3 Ocean Stakes (1200m) and filled the same placing in the same race latest. Performs better when the season is in its colder phase but not so effective in hot weather. Usually settles midfield or better. Tested only on firm and good.
Daimei Princess A G3 winner over 1000m. Ran a decent 4th to Fine Needle in the G1 Sprinters Stakes (1200m) in September. Unplaced in the G3 Silk Road Stakes (1200m) in January and the G3 Ocean Stakes on 2 March, having lost much weight before the race.
