The Stewards have been informed that WAIKUKU, trained by Mr J Size and which is entered for the stated race, was noted to be lame in its left front leg on Sunday, 10 March 2019.
WAIKUKU has been examined by Mr Size’s allocated Veterinary Surgeon, and treated by the Club’s Head Farrier, for sensitivity to the sole of its left front foot.
The Stewards have spoken with Mr Size who said that due to the left front foot issue the horse had missed one day of track work (Sunday, 10 March 2019) and that WAIKUKU had been restricted to slow work since the issue arose. He added that it is his intention to gallop the horse tomorrow morning (Thursday, 14 March 2019).
WAIKUKU has today been examined by Dr P Curl, Executive Manager, Veterinary Regulation and Welfare, who reported that the horse trotted sound with no additional findings of significance.
A further release will be issued tomorrow in respect of this matter.
