The Met Day races to be simulcast for betting

The Hong Kong Jockey Club will simulcast for betting seven races from the Met Day meeting at Kenilworth racecourse of Cape Town in South Africa on Saturday, 26 January. (1st race 7:50pm)

Takes place on the last Saturday of January of every year, the Met Day is not only the climax of South Africa’s summer horseracing season but also the most anticipated social events in town with thrilling racing and glamorous fashion on show.

The Met was first run in 1883 and firmly established as one of the “Big Three” races in South Africa alongside Durban July and the Summer Cup.

The day will kick off with two valuable restricted races for 3yos, the CTS 1200 and CTS 1600, to be followed by some top class racing including the Cape Derby, the most prestigious race in the Western Cape region for the classic generation, and the Cape Flying Championship, one of the country’s major sprint races.

Subject to change, the seven races to be simulcast are:

07:50 pm CTS 1200 (1200m for 3yo)
08:25 pm CTS 1600 (1600m for 3yo)
09:00 pm Cape Flying Championship (G1 1000m)
09:35 pm Cape Derby (G1 2000m for 3yo)
10:10 pm Majorca Stakes (G1 1600m for fillies and mares)
11:10 pm The Met (G1 2000m)
11:50 pm Cape Stayers (G2 2800m)

Final declarations with barrier draws for the Met Day races will be available on Friday, 25 January.
