Pre-race veterinary examinations of all local and international entrants for Sunday’s Hong Kong International Races have been undertaken. Dr Peter Curl, Executive Manager, Veterinary Regulation and Welfare, has reported that there were no notable findings with the exception of WERTHER, which has been entered to compete in the LONGINES Hong Kong Cup.
Dr Curl has reported that WERTHER was this morning found to have a slightly thickened and reactive right front medial suspensory branch. A scan of WERTHER’s right front leg performed earlier this afternoon has confirmed the horse to have an injury to the medial branch of its suspensory ligament.
Accordingly, WERTHER has been withdrawn from the stated race.
In accordance with normal practice all declared runners for Sunday’s races will undergo veterinary examinations on the morning of Saturday, 8 December 2018.
